Plant Biology Greenhouse

Living Collections

The plant conservatory in the Plant Biology Greenhouse and Conservatory is the most diverse in the entire southern Illinois region, containing ca. 700 species of plants. Most of these species are not native to Illinois, so this collection represents a window into the worldwide diversity of plants. The collection has been partially inventoried using digital photography and those photos are archived on PhytoImages. The plants have been sorted into four taxonomic groups on five pages. Those pages present information on the different species in tabular form, and when available links to photographs are provided.
